Long Description

Australian Made Quality Snatch Straps.

A snatch strap is an essential piece of equipment for any vehicle venturing off road, particularly in sandy or muddy terrain where bogging is likely.

The principle of a snatch strap is the property of elasticity which woven nylon posesses. When attached between a bogged vehicle and a recovery vehicle, the nylon webbing strap can stretch up to 25% without damage, and in the process can 'store' energy which can be utilised to assist the bogged vehicle to 'drive' out of the bog. It's a bit like a big rubber band.

How to use a snatch strap (guide only - see caution).

The snatch strap is attached to a solid rated recovery point on each vehicle (either on specially designed hooks, or using suitably rated 'bow shackles'. The recovering vehicle is positioned so that there is about 2 metres of slack in the snatch strap. The recovery vehicle moves off at a moderate pace until the tension in the strap brings the recovering vehicle to a halt, while at the same time the bogged vehicle attempts to drive out at an equally moderate pace once the tension on the strap is at it's peak. This should allow a smooth, gentle recovery of the bogged vehicle.

It is important that safety procedures be strictly enforced, such as using a suitable 'air brake' such as a jacket or blanket mid-way along the strap to prevent serious injury or death shoud the strap break during recovery. Also ensure that any bystanders are at least 1.5 times the length of the strap distant from the vehicles in all directions.

Our snatch straps are guaranteed to be rated to the published minimum breaking strain.

CAUTION: USE OF RECOVERY EQUIPMENT IS DANGEROUS, AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH IF A FAILURE OCCURS. 4X4 BUYER STORE RECOMMENDS OBTAINING INSTRUCTION FROM A CERTIFIED 4WD TRAINER IN THE PROPER USE OF RECOVERY EQUIPMENT.
